| Frequently Asked Questions First off, you will be staying at the Double C Ranch and the directions can be printed right off the web site, www.huntingwithjeff.com and then click on the link at the very top of the page that reads Double C Ranch info. You will see a map with driving directions. The nearest commercial airport is the San Antonio International Airport which is a 2 hour drive. You might consider renting a car at the airport and drive down, or they have Shuttle Bus service available for $650 round trip. To make your reservations by phone, please call 830-374-2744 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM (CST), Monday through Thursday, or you can send an email to carley@huntingwithjeff.com 24 hours a day, seven days a week to request available dates. They will need to know what month you wish to hunt and if you can hunt during the week or weekends only (Fri-Sat-Sun). When is the best time to come? This is one of the most asked questions. We always tell those who ask, come when you can because they hunt 360 days a year and no one can predict mother nature nor how the animals will act on a certain day. The ranch is open 7 days a week. Remember, you have one year from the time you purchased your hunt to take the hunt. Be sure and make your reservations as soon as you can and do not wait for 6 months to book your hunt because the chances of finding an open date are going to be almost impossible and you will jeopardize forfeiting your hunt due to your hunt expiring. Please refrain from changing your hunt date once it is set, especially if it is within 90 days of your scheduled date. If this does happen, there could be an additional fee for rescheduling. Can I buy extra days? Yes, extra days can be added for $200 a person for a 24 hr period if there is availability. Those dates are booked directly with www.huntingwithjeff.com Can non-hunting guests join the hunting party? Yes, non-hunting guests can accompany you for $100 per night if there is availability. Again, you will book that directly with www.huntingwithjeff. com How much is a non-resident hunting license for hogs and exotics? The state of Texas charges $45 for a 5 day license for adults who are 17 or older and $6 for youngsters 16 and under. You can purchase online once you have established your hunting dates. Click on the following link to purchase online http://www.tpwd.state.tx. us/business/licenses/online_sales/ . You want to buy item #157 if you are hunting for Exotics or hogs. It is a 5 day non-resident hunting license, be sure and put your scheduled arrival date as the date for the license to take affect. All other hunting; such as: Whitetail or Turkey should check out the Texas Parks and Wildlife for pricing. How much is the processing service? You can have your animal skinned/processed and vacuumed packed for .50 cents a pound or $50 an animal, whichever is greater, and the price will be determined by the hanging weight. If you wish your animal shipped, they can do so by UPS, DHL or Federal Express via next day air; however, the cost is $250 for a large box (up to 60 pounds), or $125 for a small box (up to 30 pounds). This will include shipping box, handling and gel packs. The price quoted is for the lower 48 States only. Please note, that there is no insurance or protection for meat shipped by any of the shipping companies mentioned. Can I gut/skin my own animals? Field Dressing/Gutting, Skinning/Quartering and/or Skinning/Processing are not included in the hunt cost unless you paid full list price. You can either do it yourself at no additional charge or they can do for it a fee. Do not field dress any animals in the field. Please note that there will be a fee of $30 for any animal you donate. This fee is for skinning/quartering the animal for the donation. What time can I check in? The check in time is no earlier than 1:00 PM on your first day of your scheduled trip and departure is by 11:00 AM on the last day of your trip. They need the time to make the rooms ready, so please help them out by not showing up before the arrival time. If you arrive early and need a Motel, we suggest you call the TEXAN INN in Carrizo Springs @ 830-876- 9090. It is brand new and only 5 minutes from the ranch. Or you can call the RIATA INN in Crystal City @ 830-374-5665. It also is new and only 5 minutes from the ranch. Items not included: Hunting License, Field Dressing/Gutting, Skinning/Quartering, Skinning/Processing with vacuum packing. All hog hunts purchased from Droptine Promotions will include: 3 days and 2 nights (2 full days of hunting plus hunting the day of check in and the morning of departure); (2) hogs, plus an opportunity at an Aoudad and Varmints; meals; lodging; guide service; unlimited sporting clays; hostesses; maid service; field dressing/gutting; skinning/quartering and/or skinning/processing; and open bar. One of the most asked questions is how much, who and when do I tip. All tips are just that, a tip and should only be left if you are completely satisfied with the service the staff performed during your visit. The suggested amount of tips for each hunter varies with the number of animals harvested and how hard your guide worked to put you on the animals. The total tip is then collected in the office at check out time (except for the guide which is generally paid direct by the hunter). The tips are then paid to the staff members (hostesses, house-keeping and cooking staff). Bring a shotgun and ammo if you desire to shoot skeet, the clay targets are provided at no additional charge. Bring your fishing gear if you desire to fish their lake for black bass on a catch and release program. Bring ice chests to take your meat home or you can donate it to the local church if you pay to have it field dressed/gutted and/or skinned/quartered. What should I wear? – Orange is not required nor is it recommended, they prefer camo. You do not need snake leggings because there is very little walking or stalking. We also have a weather link on our web site or you can check the link at www.huntingwithjeff.com if you would like to check the 10-day weather forecast so you will know what type of clothing to bring. We suggest if you are hog hunting to use a 25-06 rifle or larger with some sort of illuminated cross hair because most of the hogs are taken at night or in low light conditions. The majority of all hunting is done from blinds (ground and elevated). Their hunting blinds all overlook feeders with LED night-lights. Bowhunting, Muzzle Loaders and Handguns are allowed as well. All hunters will be required to shoot their rifles at their range before the hunt can begin. The average shot distance is around 100 yards. One of the most important things to remember is setting your hunting date as soon as you can. You will need to email carley@huntingwithjeff.com and let them know if you can hunt during the week or weekends only and what month you would like to try and schedule. All hunts must be confirmed by email so there is a paper trail. If you would like to see a list of other animals available, go to the www.huntingwithjeff.com and click on hunts offered and then click on the specie you wish and then click on prices. We strongly suggest you communicate with them through email so there is a paper trial and a maintained record of all correspondence, which will insure both of all the details are covered and that there are never any misunderstandings.
